Curtis William Mumford, 61, of Bishopville, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. After graduating from the University of Baltimore with a degree in accounting, he opened a CPA office in Selbyville, Del. He truly loved his work as a CPA and was active in the business for 40 years, serving clients in Maryland and Delaware. He was also involved in various real estate activities in Maryland and Delaware. He was a member of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City, Md., and a former member of the Selbyville Lion’s Club. He loved working on the landscaping at his home and enjoyed the company of his Labrador retriever, Ollie.
Mumford was preceded in death by his father, William C. Mumford. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Holland Mumford; his mother, Margaret H. Mumford of Selbyville; a son, Timothy C. Mumford and his wife Janel of Selbyville; a daughter, Tara M. Benton and her husband Barry of Houston, Del.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Allison Benton; two sisters, Linda M. Becker and her husband Clint of Phoenix, Md., and Cindy K. Mumford and her husband Rodney Wildermuth of Columbia, Md.; a stepson, Barry E. R. Mariner and his wife Jeannie of Berlin, Md.; two step-grandchildren, Brittany and Ethan Mariner; his mother-in-law, Mary Belle Holland of Ocean City, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 3rd and Baltimore Ave., Ocean City, Md., where friends and family may call after 1:30 p.m. Family and friends may also call at Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, Del., on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, from 5 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bishopville Fire Department, P.O.
