Registration open for 19th Annual Ocean-to-Bay Bike Tour

As spring finally warms and greens the Delmarva Peninsula, bicyclists from all over the mid-Atlantic region will shift into gear and head to Fenwick Island. The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Ocean-To-Bay Bike Tour is a favored season-opening ride, organizers noted.

Cyclists will choose from 25-, 35- or 50-mile courses through The Quiet Resorts of Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. Rest stops, staffed by volunteers, include a state park and a wildlife refuge. The award-winning tour offers participants a leisurely ride on flat terrain, through coastal and inland bay areas.

Registration is now open online at Until April 12, pre-registration costs $30 per adult ($35 after April 12). Registration for students (18 or younger) costs $15. Children ages 4 or younger ride for free, but don’t get commemorative T-shirts or goody bags. Teams of six or more can register for $25 per rider.

New this year: Saturday-morning registration and check-in on April 19 for those pre-registered will be held in downtown Bethany Beach, on Garfield Parkway at the boardwalk. And all the routes begin and end in downtown Bethany.

The tour will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, and has three rest stops with light snacks and refreshments along the way. Sag wagons will be available from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. to assist riders. Each pre-registered participant receives a goody bag and T-shirt at check-in. All other participants will receive shirts and goody bags on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sponsors for the bike tour include Gold Sponsor, Holiday Inn Express, Bethany Beach; Tansey-Warner Realty; Bethany Massage & Healing Arts; John F. Kleinstuber & Assoc., Morgan Stanley, Kilian/Kangas Group; The Parkway Restaurant; Steve Parsons and Ken Feaster, Attorneys at Law and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
