Lawrence Francis Cullen Sr., 85
Lawrence Francis Cullen Sr., 85, of Roxana, Del., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard and a lifetime member of the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company. He loved and trusted the Lord and was a member of the Roxana Methodist Church where he was the past Sunday School superintendent. An avid gardener, he loved sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors.
Cullen was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Mary Louise (Doorley) Cullen; his stepmother, Blanche C. Cullen; an infant son, Herman Lee Cullen; three brothers, Fred, Amos and Clinton Cullen; and two sisters, Anna Mae Davis and Theresa Collins. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mildred Edna (Campbell) Cullen; two sons, Lawrence F. (Toby) Cullen Jr. and his wife Linda of Long Neck, Del., and John Paul Cullen and his wife Carole of Roxana; four sisters, Evelyn Davis of Parksley, Va., Alice Davidson of Dagsboro, Del., Elaine Townsend and Eva Tindall, both of Seaford, Del.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2008, with interment in Carey’s Cemetery in Frankford, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Roxana Methodist Church, 35901 Zion Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945.
