Richard ‘Dick’ Lamb Peters, 79

Richard “Dick” Lamb Peters, 79, passed away of lung cancer on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his home in Ocean View, Del. Born and educated in Washington, D.C., he served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy, was an electrical engineer, an attorney and the owner of Lamb Seal & Stencil Inc. With the help of property donated by his mother, Winifred Lamb Peters, he founded the Kingman Boys & Girls Club in 1969.

Peters is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Jane Peters; his children, Marie Celeste Peters, Therese Rodriguez, Christina Peters, Julie Collen, Richard Peters Jr., Melissa Peters, Bill Peters, Kara Veigas, Kevin Peters and Suzanne Peters; their spouses; 13 grandchildren; five step-children; and 10 step-grandchildren.

A viewing was scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church, North Capital & Eye Streets, NW, Washington, D.C. Private interment in Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
