Edward G. Tuckmantel, 76, of Selbyville, Del., formerly of Newark, Del., passed away Monday, April 21, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del. He was a supervisor of the Graphic Design Group at DuPont Co., Louviers Site, retiring after 41 years with the company. He had attended the Philadelphia College of Art. He was a member and past president of Swann Estates Homeowners Association. He enjoyed fishing and wood-working and in prior years he enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was a United States Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Tuckmantel was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Maria Strassman Tuckmantel. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Billie Jean Derrickson Tuckmantel; a son, Glenn E. Tuckmantel and his wife Amanda of Newark, Del.; a daughter, Dawn J. Simmons and her husband Daniel of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Helga Foulke of Wilmington, Del.; and three grandchildren, Zackery Tuckmantel, Austin Simmons and Keri Simmons.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del., where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Roxana Vol. Fire Co., 35943 Zion Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945.
