Ellwood Frey, 78, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of the Washington, D.C., area, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Renaissance Health Care Center, Long Neck, Del. He was a member for 54 years of the Carpenters/Joiners Union Local 132 in Washington, D.C.
Frey was preceded in death by his parents, Capt. Harlan Frey and Adelaide Murray Frey. His mother passed away when he was 2 years old, and he was raised by his father and a very caring, loving step-mother, Pearl Fennell Frey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Leonard; his sister, Gertrude Goodhue of Md.; his nephews, Keith Goodhue of Annapolis, Md. and Robert Frey of Chicago, Ill.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Dowey Frey; a daughter, Donna Eytchison and her husband, Vernon, of Laurel, Md.; two sons, Steven and his wife, Teri, of Oviedo, Fla., and David and his wife, Marvella, of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Carrie and Lauren Eytchison of Laurel, Md., Rebecca Paugh and her husband, Shawn, of York, Pa., Steven Frey II and his wife, Maria, of Charlotte, N.C., Andrew Frey of Orland, Fla., Cody Wright of Richmond, Va., Aidan and Liliana Frey of Phoenix, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
