Ormil “Doc” Savage Sr., 82, of Ocean View, Del., passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home. While serving with the United States Marine Corps during World War II, he was wounded at Guadalcanal and was a Purple Heart recipient. He attended the Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro, Del.
Savage was preceded in death by his parents, A. Frank and Gretchen (Wainwright) Savage; and his wife, Irene Savage. He is survived by two daughters, Connie Lathbury and her husband, Chip, of Dagsboro, Del. and Wanda Weber and her husband, Wayne, of Frankford, Del.; a son, Ormil Savage Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Ocean View; five grandchildren, Jonah Lathbury of Dagsboro, Stacie Mills of Ocean View, Leah Clark of Frankford, Andrew Weber of Frankford and Ryan Savage of Bishopville, Md.; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Irma Timmons, Viola Clark and Myrtle Hitchens.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2008, with interment in St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville, Del.
