Delthia Hickman, 75, of Frankford, Del., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She worked for the Indian River School District, retiring in 1986. She and her husband were avid golfers at Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown, Del., and were lifetime members of St. George’s United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Del. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Frankford Chapter #12 Order of the Eastern Star. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved to golf, cook, travel and spend time with family and friends. She will be missed.
Hickman was preceded in death by her parents, Roxie and Clarence R. Townsend; and her brothers, Raymond and Alden Townsend. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lorah Hickman; her daughter, Teresa Doyle and her husband, Tim, of Dagsboro, Del.; two granddaughters, Ragen and Rylie Doyle; her sister, Pauline Rickards of Dagsboro; her niece, Rhonda Lynch and her husband, A.F., and their daughter, Ashley; and a nephew, Sherman Townsend of Dover, Del.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at St. George’s United Methodist Church, Clarksville, on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008. Visitation will begin at noon and funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory may be sent to St. George’s United Methodist Church, 34281 Omar Rd., Frankford, DE 19945.
