Eliza L. White, 94 of Oak Orchard, Del., passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
She owned and operated White’s Beauty Shop in Georgetown for over 40 years. During World War II, she was a line leader at Milford Ordnance, making anti-aircraft ammunition, and survived an explosion at the plant where many women lost their lives. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in Georgetown.
White was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood White; and siblings Ruth McGee, Eva Webb, Charles Moore, Norman Moore, Raymond Moore, Robert Moore, Gerald Moore and Shirley Fritz.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Boyce of Laurel, two brothers, Joseph and Irvin Moore of Oak Orchard and many loving nephews and nieces. White will be remembered as the matriarch of the Moore family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 302013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery.
