The Department of Transportation is advising motorists that Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) will be replacing electric lines on Route 1/Coastal Highway south of Five Points in the area of Shady Road and Marsh Road near Rehoboth Beach on Sunday and that traffic will be affected.
According to DelDOT, the electric line improvements will require traffic stoppages both northbound and southbound on Sunday, Nov. 23, between 7 a.m. and noon. The Delaware State Police will assist each of the five times traffic must be stopped to allow for the lines to be taken across the highway. Each stoppage should be for no more than 10-15 minutes, officials said.
Also during this time, a staging/work area for the DEC vehicles will require a lane closure on Shady Road and on Marsh Road.
All lines will be de-energized during the operation.
