Grace M. Taylor, 78, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, in Renaissance Center Nursing Home, Millsboro, Del. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Selbyville, where she was very active as a “member of the Ray Moore Singers,” served as a Sunday School teacher, finance secretary, Health, Welfare and Nurture Committee secretary, correspondence secretary and usher.
She was an industrious, hard worker for most of her life while at the same time nurturing her family and community. She was known as the Shady Grove “Florence Nightingale,” caring for the kids and elderly alike. Also, she was true to her Christian faith and to her family; she loved all children; and was an active “yard saler.”
Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maggie Matilda Tilghman Mayfield; her husband, Willie Taylor; her son, Alan Taylor; her brothers, Russell and James; and her sisters, Mildred, Alice, Esther and Marian. She is survived by a son, Darrin Taylor of Georgetown, Del.; two daughters, Fayetta Blake and her husband, Cornelius, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Dawn Taylor of Ft. Washington, Md.; eight grandchildren, Melody, Alex, Justin, Martisha, Darrin Jr., Diondre, Durrell and Brandon; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Alex, Aaleyah, Alijah, Paris, Ariana, Tonia, Christ, Amber and Ashley.
