Elizabeth P. (Callahan) Miller, 85, of Long Neck, Del., formerly of Colonie, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del., after a brief illness. She proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a graduate of Charleston Business College. A homemaker, she was involved in various organizations over the years. Her most recent was as a volunteer for Delaware Hospice, where she made many wonderful friends. She loved flowers, gardening and caring for and feeding homeless cats.
Miller was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Della Callahan; her dear husband, Leo A. Miller Jr.; and her brother, Melvin Callahan. She is survived by her children, John A. Miller and his wife, Alba, of Colonie, N.Y., Patty A. Engel and her husband, Randy, of Colonie, and Chris L. Miller and his wife, Donna, of Cohoes; grandchildren; Jeffrey Miller and his wife, Lisa, of Guilderland, Kristen Kettering and her husband, Adam, of Clifton Park; Scott Miller of Schenectady, Vincent Sfara and his wife, Michelle, of Napa, Calif., Michelle Sfara and Patrick Brooks of Colonie, and Brittany and Christopher Miller Jr. of Cohoes; great-grandchildren, Cole, Gianni, Sean and Leo; her brother, Charles Callahan and his wife, Betty, of Md.; sisters-in-law, Helen Carter and her husband, Tom, of Latham and Marilyn Toolan and her husband, John, of Scotia; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Smokey.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
