Lewis M. Brumberg Sr., 87, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Salisbury, Md. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A graduate of Temple University, he taught music at the former Selbyville High School and the Selbyville Middle School for 42 years. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, where he was the church organist and choir director for 50 years. He was a member of the Selbyville Rotary Club. A very talented musician, he had performed with the Tony Villani Orchestra and his own musical group, the L.B. Trio.
Brumberg was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Edith (Morton) Brumberg. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth P. “Betty” Brumberg; a son, Lewis M. Brumberg Jr. and his wife, Patti, of Fenwick Island; a daughter, Rebecca “Becki” Graham of Ocean City, Md.; a sister, Joan Brumberg of Clayton, N.J.; a brother, Samuel Morton of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Angel Bent and her husband, Chad, and Steven Brumberg; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Summer Bent.
A funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, with burial in Roxana Cemetery, Roxana, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 410, Selbyville, DE 19975.
