Michael G. Moore, 54, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Marshallton, Del., passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a facility manager for the State of Delaware, retiring in 2008 after 25 years of service. He was a member and past commander of the Sons of AM VETS Post#2 and Sons of American Legion Post#28 in Oak Orchard, Del. He was also a member of the Sons of American Legion Post#24 in Dagsboro, Del., the Sons of the American Legion Riders, Abate Delaware and was a founding member of AMVET Riders of Delaware. He had a friendly personality, loved life and a deep passion for riding motorcycles with his family and friends.
Moore is survived by his parents, Donald and Joy (Martin) Moore of Millsboro; his wife, Mary Beth (Coulbourn) Moore; his son, Michael Moore Jr., currently serving in Iraq with the U.S. Army; his daughter, Danielle Moore of Millsboro; two step-sons, Chris and Travis Shockley of Frankford, Del.; two brothers, Donald Moore Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Wilmington, and John Moore and his wife, Kathy, of Millsboro; two sisters, Lynne Harris and her husband, Lloyd, of Okla., and Cheryl West and her husband, Bud, of Newark, Del.; two grandchildren, Aubrey Hrycek and Joscelyn Shockley; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at 3:30 p.m., at the Long Neck chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
