Edmund “Lee” Burbage, 78, of Rogers Haven, Millville, Del., passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, in Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He retired in 1970 from the U.S. Coast Guard as an E-9 master chief after 21 years of service to his country. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Sinepuxent Lodge #193, editor and member of the Delmarva Limited Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, Parksley, Va., a member of the Girdletree Historical Society, Girdletree, Md., past member of the Millville Fire Co. and past member of the Lord Baltimore Lions Club. He was retired from Bob’s Marine and I.W. Long. He was a railroad collector and railroad buff, and a loving father and husband.
Burbage was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Norina Burbage. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deloris A. (Megee) Burbage; a son, Gregory S. Burbage, of Girdletree, Md.; two sisters, Mary Lou Wagner of N. Ferrisbury, Vt., and Carolyn Staab of The Villages, Fla.; one brother, George Burbage, and his wife, Francis, of Fox Chase, Pa.; one niece, Pam (Rickards) Browne, of Dagsboro, Del.; three nephews, Keith Wagner and Clay Wagner of Vermont and George David Burbage of Philadelphia, Pa. He is also survived by many friends, family members and his faithful and beloved dog, Schultz.
A Masonic service was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, and a funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009. Interment was in Buckingham Cemetery, Berlin, Md.
