Jean V. Hitchens, 65, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, in Atlantic Shores Nursing Home, Millsboro, Del. She was employed by Cargill for 20 years and most recently as a waitress for Doyle’s Restaurant in Selbyville, Del., for more than 20 years. She was deeply devoted to her family, especially her boys and grandchildren. Hers was a loving spirit who loved interacting and socializing with her customers.
Hitchens was preceded in death by her parents, Handy and Hester (Robinson) Justice; and a brother, Rodney Justice. She is survived by her three sons, Keith and his wife, Tina, of Bishopville, Md., Kevin of Dagsboro, and Gregory and his wife, Kathleen, of Gumboro, Del.; five grandchildren, Nicole, Scott, Spencer, Kaitlin and Nicholas Hitchens; a brother, Jack Justice and his wife, Bonnie, of Millsboro, Del.; and her loving companion, Frank Murray, of Dagsboro.
A funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2009, with interment in St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville, Del. Hitchens was such an animal lover that the family suggests memorial contributions in her name to the Sussex County SPCA, 29918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
