Jean B. “Jenny” Baker, 92


Jean B. “Jenny” Baker, 92, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Marshallton, Del., passed from this earth to be with her Savior and with her beloved husband, “Biff”, on Monday, April 27, 2009, in Ocean View, Del. She had been a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Sodality in New Castle, Del. and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW #7234 in Ocean View.

A woman of great faith, she was a consummate homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. An excellent cook and baker, she also loved working in the yard and hand sewed beautiful quilts of her own design. She will always be remembered dearly for “ring the phone once so that I know you got home safely” when her children visited her.

Baker was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert J. “Biff” Baker; and a grandson, Robert C. Rees Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Angeline M. Rees, and her husband, Robert C., of New Castle, Del., and their daughter, Jean Marie; her son, Julius F. Poppitt Jr., of Leipsic, Del., and his wife, Lois, and Jule’s children, Michael and Michelle; her son, Eugene M. Poppitt, of Lincoln, Del., who was lovingly by her side, his wife, Dora, and Gene’s children, Jennifer, Eugene Jr., and Timothy; and nine great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2009, with interment private. In lieu of flowers, Mass cards will be greatly appreciated and may be sent to Melson Funeral Services, PO Box 100, Frankford, DE 19945.
