Hilda E. Murray, 78, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She had been employed by the Adkins Company in Berlin for 45 years, retiring in 1994. She was devoted to her family and to her church. She was a lifelong member of Taylorville U.M. Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on the church board and the Cemetery Committee, and was the church treasurer for many years.
Murray was preceded in death by her husband, John Bertram Murray; and her brother, James S. Elliott. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Dianne M. Megee and her husband, Glenn, of Selbyville, and Karen M. Tyre of Selbyville and her husband, Patrick, of Ocean View, Del.; two grandchildren, Jessica and William Tyre; two great-granddaughters, Brianna Feddiman and Alisa Tyre; two step-grandsons, Chris and Stewart Megee; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kalib and Chloe Megee. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Brittingham of Laurel, Del.; her nephew, Dean M. Murray, whom she has cared for since 1999; and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, at Hastings Funeral Home, 19 S. Main Street, Selbyville, where friends may call an hour before the service.
