Leo E. Brady, 77, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh, Pa., died at home Thursday, May 14, 2009. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Austria where he served with the 10th Mountain Division and was a former member of the National Ski Patrol. He lived and worked in Washington, D.C., retiring after a 30-year tenure with the government. Upon his retirement to Delaware, he became an active member in community affairs.
Brady will always be remembered for his ideas, one of which was the New Year’s Day ocean swim, “Exercise like the Eskimos.” He was a devoted father, outstanding leader, valued colleague and loving brother and uncle.
Brady was preceded in death by his father, Leo Edward Brady; and his mother, Margaret Kane Brady. He was the beloved father of Michele and Kevin; loving grandfather of Connor; loving friend and companion of Linda Regan; brother of John T. “Jack” (Helen); uncle of Patricia “Pat” (John) Rodella, Janice (Dwayne) Apple, Corneilius “Neil” (Stacy) Brady, Michael (JoAnne) Brady and Lisa (Christopher “Chris”) Rickert; many great-nieces and great-nephews survive him, as well.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Del.
