Ella Mary Hall Jewell, 78, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, after a long illness. She worked for many years as a medical claims approver for Met Life, retiring early. She loved karaoke, dancing, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and was talented on the piano, organ and guitar.
Jewell was the daughter of Kathryn E. Hall and previously deceased Master Sgt. John J. Hall Sr. She was the oldest of four siblings – two brothers, previously deceased John J. Hall Jr. and Robert J. Hall, and a previously deceased sister, Elizabeth A. McGinnis. She was the proud mother of three children, a son, Luther Franklin Jewell Jr. and his wife, Faith; a daughter, Dale Malandruccolo (widowed); and her youngest son, Frank Lee Davenport; eight grandchildren, Donald W. Holden and his wife, Barbie, Steven A. Melson Jr. and his wife, Tracy, Kerri A. Sharpless and her husband, Kenneth, Renee L. Jewell, Kelly M. Greer and her husband, Christopher, Megan Jewell, Whitney Jewell and Kristin Jewell; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Blanchette, Taylor Greer, C.J. Greer, Donald Holden, Eddie Ariza, twins Joseph and Shawnee Bonderant, Steven N. Melson and soon to be Jayden Greer. She was a beautiful person inside and out; she was loved by all who knew her and will be surely missed by many.
Services will be at noon on Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that to offset final expenses, contributions be made payable to Luther F. Jewell Jr., c/o Watson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Millsboro, DE 19966.
