Three CBRB associates earn Green designation

Kathleen Cramer, Ruth McNeill and Peter Sarafa, with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Bethany Beach, have earned the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Green Designation, the only green real estate professional designation recognized by NAR. With this designation, these sales associates have been designated as trusted resources for clients interested in homes that are energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Cramer, McNeill and Sarafa completed 18 hours of coursework designed specifically for Realtors. The courses were created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of industry experts from across the country, aimed at ensuring designees gain comprehensive knowledge of green homes and buildings and issues of sustainability in relation to real estate.

Each agent was trained in understanding what makes a property green, helping clients evaluate the cost and benefits of green building features and practices, distinguishing between industry rating and classification systems, listing and marketing green homes and buildings, discussing the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners and helping consumers see a property’s green potential.

“Homeowners are looking for ways to save money on energy costs and live in a way that’s more environmentally responsible,” said Rick Allamong, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker in Bethany Beach. “Kathleen, Ruth and Peter now have that expertise as part of their ongoing efforts to educate themselves to better serve their clientele.”

NAR’s Green Designation was developed in response to growing consumer awareness of the benefits of resource-efficient homes and buildings. The designation helps consumers who care about energy efficiency and sustainable building practices identify Realtors who can help them realize their green real estate and lifestyle goals.
