Clifford I. Murray, Jr, 73, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1957 and retired as a Major in the US Army Reserves after 20 years of service. He was employed by Delmarva Power for 35 years. He began his career as a laborer at the Indian River Power Plant, moved to Salisbury where he was an engineering assistant and a buyer. From there he moved to the Millsboro office as an area engineer.
Murrary was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lucy Murray; his brother, Tommy; and his grandson, Joseph Calhoun, III. He is survived by the love of his life, Glenda Davidson Murray; his daughter, Mona and husband Alton; his son, Keith and wife Wendy; three grandchildren, Michael Calhoun and wife Colleen, Kaylin and Leanne Murray; great grandson, Adler Calhoun; his brother, Robert Murray and wife Kathy; sisters, Janet Smith and husband Harry, Neva Proudfoot and husband Dave; and numerous family and friends.
A funeral service is set for Friday, Dec. 4, 1 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery.
