Robert V. “Bob” West, 79, of Georgetown, Del., passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at home surrounded by his family. He worked for Townsend’s Inc., Millsboro, Del. as a supervisor of poultry processing and many other duties for many years retiring in 1992 then he worked part time until 2009 for NAPA in Georgetown, Del. to stay busy. He attended St. John’s United Methodist Church and Zoar United Methodist Church where he sang with the St. John’s Quartet and the Zoar Trio. He loved his family, baseball, football, gardening and was Boston Red Sox fan.
West was preceded in death by his parents, Edward B. and Lillie Maude Holston West; his brother, Floyd West; and his wife, Betty Ann Johnson. He is survived by his son, Bruce V. West and his wife Robin of Milton, Del.; his daughter, Brenda L. Cohee and her fiancé Eddie Hill of Georgetown, Del.; his brother, Charlie West of Millsboro, Del.; four grandchildren, Michelle West, Summer Meraz, Cody West, and Matthew Cohee; four great grandchildren, Joshua Fletcher, Samantha Fletcher, Riley Meraz, and Luke Hughes; sister-in-law, Ivah Hastings; two brothers -in-law, Elwood Johnson and wife Marie and Harold Johnson and wife Jeanie; many cousins; nieces and nephews.
Services are set for Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Del. where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 10-11 a.m. Rev. Art Backus, West’s longtime friend, will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the St. John’s U.M. Church Cemetery, near Georgetown.
