Suspects sought in local thefts

The Delaware State Police are asking for the assistance of the public in identifying suspects in a series of thefts from vehicles in the Millville and Selbyville areas this week. Police said the thefts occurred overnight from Saturday, July 31, to Sunday, Aug. 1, and impacted eight different victims.

According to the DSP, the thefts were from vehicles at six locations within the Bay View Shores development south of Route 54 near Selbyville, including on Bay View Circle, West Bay View Circle, South Lake Drive and Gull Watch Way, as well as William Chandler Boulevard in the Millville area.

Police reported that an undetermined number of suspects entered approximately 10 vehicles, stealing items and also rummaging through unsecured vehicles.

In all, police said, the suspects stole approximately $1,000 worth of money, and cellular phone and GPS equipment. No damage was done to the vehicles, because they were left unsecured, police noted. In most of these cases, they said, the vehicles were parked in the victims’ driveways.

Anyone with information about the incidents is being asked to contact the state police at (302) 856-5850. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be forwarded to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
