Cora Lee Short, 69, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010. She worked as a home health care aide for CHEER in Georgetown and had a self-employed cleaning service. She was a member of Trinity Holiness Church in Frankford, Del., where she was the president of Missionaries.
Short was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jones and Ella Risper; two brothers, James Gaskins and Hayward Risper; and one sister, Eliza Andrews. She is survived by her husband, James Short; five daughters, Janet Hendricks of Houston, Del., Louise Smack of Bridgeville, Del., Gladys Stone and Vanessa Bailey, both of Bridgeville, Del., and Nicole Tyre of Showell, Md., a son, James Bailey of Houston, Del.; two adopted sons, Lytain Dukes of Millsboro, Del., and Richard Dukes of Bridgeville, Del., two adopted daughters, Vicki Farlow of Bridgeville, Del., and Lavonne Purnell of Selbyville, Del.; and two brothers, MacArthur Risper of Bridgeville, Del., and Andrew Risper of Seaford, Del.
A funeral service was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Second Baptist in Mt. Joy, near Millsboro, Del., where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
