Ruth Alice Rowles, 72, of Bethany Beach, Del., formerly of Arlington, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at home.
Rowles had previously worked for the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and also was a volunteer for the Friends of the Bethany Beach Library. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach. Before moving to Bethany Beach, she had volunteered for Arlington Hospital and was a charter member of the Arlington Lawyers’ Wives.
Rowles was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Edward and Alice Syster (Kwick) Rowles; son, Steven E. Doherty; and brother, Edward E. Rowles.. She is survived by two sons, Michael H. Doherty of Fairfax, Va., and Daniel E. Doherty of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Sharon D. Harris of Berryville, Va.; her soul mate, Donald L. Donaway of Bethany Beach; five grandchildren, Keith Bryden, Jennifer Bryden, Kelly Bryden, Jake Harris and Austin Harris; three great-grandchildren, Jaiden White, Jordyn White and McKenzie Spicer; and cousins Nancy Hagstrom, Newlin Kean and Neal Kean.
A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Burial was to be held on Wednesday at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
