Mabel Elizabeth McCray, 92, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Nov. 24, 2010, at Atlantic Shores Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, in Millsboro, Del.
McCray retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was very active in the church and worked with youth in Delaware, Pennsylvania and California. She received her credentials in Dramatics of Religion from the National Band of Churches in Tennessee. She was a member of the Young Women’s Christian Association and director of the Woodlawn Center in California. She was also a member of the Centrex Toast Mistresses and served as the president of the organization for several years. After retiring, McCray returned to Delaware to care for her mother and for her sister, Marie Ingram. She later reunited with Antioch Church.
McCray was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret McCray Baylis and Harvey Tyre; and her aunt who raised her, Williamenia McCray Fasset. McCray leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins and friends.
A visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, and a graveside service at Dickerson Chapel Church Cemetery (old Field).
