Russell Herts Selig, 87, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Potomac, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his home in Bethany Beach, Del.
Selig was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He retired in 1985, after 23 years of service as a contracting officer for the Department of Defense. He was also a member of the Ocean City-Berlin Optimist Club and the Fenwick Island Lions’ Club.
In addition to his parents, Marcus K. and Marjorie (Herts) Selig, Selig was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert D. Selig. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carol (Leach) Anderson Selig; three children, Karen Selig of St. Augustine, Fla., Jerry Selig of Bishopville, Md., and Bryna Selig of Olney, Md.; three stepchildren, Bill Anderson of Charlotte, N.C., Patrick Anderson of Cabin John, Md., and Susanne Devine of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; his former wife, Mimi Selig of St Augustine, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Temple Bat Yam; 11036 Worcester Hwy.; Berlin, MD 21811. Interment was to be held at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Selig’s name to Temple Bat Yam; P.O.
