Gregory J. “Greg” Mountzalia, 90, of Selbyville, Del., and formerly of Silver Spring, Md., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at home.
Mountzalia was in the restaurant business most of his life and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City, Md., where he was a member of the Ocean Pearls. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Masons and the American Legion, and a life member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Demetrios and Anna (Visedes) Mountzalia. He is survived by his wife, Afendra G. Mountzalia of Selbyville, Del.; son, James Mountzalia of Easton, Md.; daughters, Anna Evans of Ft. Meyers Beach, Fla., and Renee Pittman of Emmitsburg, Md.; brothers, George Mountzalia and Socratis Mountzalia, both of Greece; grandchildren, Gregory, Nicholas, Jason, Jessica and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, James and Malaya.
A funeral service was scheduled for Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at St. George Greek Orthodox; 8805 Coastal Highway; Ocean City, Md. Friends could call Thursday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hastings Funeral Home; 19 South Main Street; Selbyville, Del., where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial was to be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. George Greek Orthodox Church; 8805 Coastal Highway; Ocean City, MD 21842.
