Ruth Clements Lingo, 81, of Millsboro, Del., died on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del., surrounded by her loving family.
Lingo was employed by the Indian River School District for 30 years; eight years as a physical education teacher and 22 as a kindergarten teacher at East Georgetown Elementary. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Red Hat Mamas, Millsboro Chapter Club. She participated in First Staters’ Delaware Senior Olympics Volleyball, loved dancing and shopping, and was devoted to her family.
Lingo was preceded in death by her parents, David Alday and Laura Virginia Clements; sister, Kitty Williams; four brothers, David, Bernie, Charles and James Clements; and a granddaughter, Megan.. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond “Dee” Lingo; five sons, Ted Lingo and Ray Lingo, both of Millsboro, Jim Lingo of Milford, Jay Lingo of Milford, and Joe Lingo of Lewes; two sisters, Margaret Ann Jones of Milford and Ethel Mayhew of Bear, Del.; 10 grandchildren, Michelle, Danielle, Jordan, Connor, Morgan, Sara, Courtney, Emily, Brady and Molly; and many extended family members and special friends.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, with interment to follow at Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributions to either the FMC Mid-Sussex Dialysis Center; 34 Georgetown Plaza; Georgetown, DE 19947; or to the Delaware Hospice Center; 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
