Delaware State Police on Jan. 18 were seeking a 46-year-old Ocean View man in connection with their investigation into a series of incidents of unlawful use of a credit card occurring at several locations in Millville and Clarksville last fall.
Police said they were contacted last month by a 72-year-old Ocean View man who had recently noticed suspicious purchases on his credit card amounting to $1,026, from purchases made between Oct. 23 and Nov. 12, 2010, at Rite Aid and Auto Zone in Millville, and at Hocker’s Super Center and Happy Harry’s in Clarksville.
The Delaware State Police Fraudulent Crimes unit was able to obtain video from one of the stores, which police said helped identify the suspect. Arrest warrants have been obtained for Mark A. Mathewson, 46, of Ocean View, on 11 counts of Theft Under $1,500 Where a Victim is 62 years of Age or Older and 11 counts of Unlawful Use of a Credit Card.
Delaware State Police this week were searching for Mathewson and requested the public’s help in locating him.
