Man killed in crash on Pyle Center Road

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit this week was investigating a crash involving a motorcycle that occurred east of Frankford on Aug. 22 and killed a Georgetown man.

Police said the incident happened about 8:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, as George R Landon Sr., 49, was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King Classic north on Pyle Center Road, just south of Daisey Road. They said Landon failed to negotiate a moderate curve to the left and exited the east edge of the roadway, where he was ejected from the motorcycle as it slid into a curve warning sign and, ultimately, a tree.

Landon, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by EMS to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md., where he was pronounced dead upon his arrival, police said. Pyle Center Road was closed for three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
