Man arrested after allegedly fleeing police
A 27-year-old Millsboro man was arrested recently after allegedly fleeing from Ocean View police on Nov. 5.
The OVPD reported that about 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 5, officers had attempted to stop a blue Hyundai on Beaver Dam Road, for an equipment violation. Initially, they said, the Hyundai’s driver pulled over and stopped; however, as officers approached the vehicle, they said, the Hyundai sped off. The driver of the Hyundai extinguished his lights and allegedly drove in a reckless manner while attempting to elude police, the OVPD noted.
After a brief pursuit, the officers discontinued the chase, due to safety concerns, they said. Police launched an intensive investigation into the matter and ultimately identified the driver of the vehicle as Chad Gibbs, 27, of Millsboro. Gibbs was located and arrested.
Police charged Gibbs with multiple traffic offenses, including disregarding a police officer’s signal to stop and aggressive driving.
Millsboro sex-offender wanted after failing to provide address
The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit (SOAR) this week was looking for a Millsboro man after the Tier 2 sex offender failed to verify and register his current address.
Investigators said they obtained warrants for Steven F. Everitt, who is a moderate-risk Tier 2 sex offender, after they learned that he failed to register his home address and had not notified SOAR of his status within three days of any change, as he is required to do by law.
Everitt was described as a white man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Everitt is known to frequent the Lewes and Rehoboth areas, police said.
The Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit is asking anyone who may know the location of Steven F. Everitt to call 911 or (302) 739-5882.
