The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Thursday afternoon through late Thursday night, Jan. 17, projecting snow accumulations of between 2 and 6 inches.
The NWS is predicting that rain will mix with snow starting Thursday afternoon, changing over to all snow Thursday night. Snow could fall heavily for a few hours during the late afternoon or evening, they said. Roads and walkways were expected to become covered with snow, resulting in hazardous conditions.
The NWS is predicting a wet snow without much wind. Some isolated power outages are possible, they said, if the higher-end accumulations materialize. Temperatures will fall below freezing, and any standing water or slush will freeze solid by Friday morning.
Visibility of a quarter-mile or less are predicted at times of heavier snowfall.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
