Surfin’ Snowman run coming to Bethany Beach

The Seashore Striders and the producers of the Bethany Beach First Responders Triathlon-Duathlon-Aquabike event (Rick Hundley, Ernie Felici and Tim Bamforth) are now planning the Surfin’ Snowman 5-mile run and Santa’s Helper 2-mile family fun walk/run. The event, presented by Miken Builders, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28, at noon at the Bethany Beach bandstand. Proceeds will benefit the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company (BBVFC) and Justin’s Beach House.

“The volunteers at the BBVFC do so much for the community — they keep us safe. And Justin’s Beach House is a haven/destination for children and their families who are battling cancer. They deserve our generous support,” said Race Producer Hundley. “We are thrilled to start this holiday tradition to integrate fitness, fun and philanthropy at the beach.”

Hundley said, “We have the know-how, the expertise and the confidence of the Town, sponsors and previous participants to put on a great family event. Plus, we have the motivation of the charity recipients. It’s going to an epic inaugural event.”

“We are grateful to our presenting sponsor, Miken Builders, and welcome additional support from all business, residents and guests to help us give a fabulous holiday gift to these two incredible organizations,” Hundley concluded.

Volunteers and sponsors are currently being sought. All inquiries and abilities are welcome. Registration is now open, at surfinsnowman.com, with special pricing through Nov. 29.
