The State Route 26 Mainline Improvement Project continues with a road closure in Ocean View for 3 to 5 weeks, weather pending.
Due to relocation of the sewer force main, Central Avenue will be closed at Route 26 to through traffic. (Vehicles cannot turn from Central Ave. onto Route 26 and vice versa, but both roads are otherwise passable.) Motorists should follow the posted alternative routes.
Look for flaggers on Route 26 from April 7 to April 11. Motorists should continue to expect lane closures from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in several areas:
• between Route 17 (Roxanna Road) and Powell Farm Road for underground utility relocations.
• between Route 17 and Dukes Drive for removal of items located within the roadway.
• between Old Mill Road and Grants Avenue for saw cutting.
Detours are not required for this. Traffic will alternate, as directed by flaggers. Motorists should drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
Meanwhile, there will be no lane closures for the installation of a new pump station west of Irons Lane and other utility relocations.
Monthly public meetings begin
Beginning April 8, the Route 26 Project Team Construction Advisory Group will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at Bethany Beach Town Hall.
Representatives from DelDOT, contractors George & Lynch and other consultants will address questions.
The purpose of these meetings will be to discuss the progress, road and lane closures, schedule, project impact and other issues relevant to the community.
