Wounded warriors storm the shore next week

This community will be fortunate enough to receive 30 wounded warriors and their families next week, and we all have Operation SEAs the Day to thank for that opportunity.

The group was founded as a means to thank the families for their sacrifices, and the community has jumped in with both feet to support with the cause. The families will have donated homes to stay in for the week, a welcome reception at the Ocean View VFW and a special patriotic concert on Sept. 11 featuring recording artist Aaron Tippin, thanks to the Freeman Stage at Bayside.

During some of their free time, the families will be able to golf, fish, have a spa day and enjoy meals at area reastaurants, as local businesses have jumped in to offer their appreciation to the men and women who have found harm in defense of their country, and the families who have supported them and carried heavy loads as the warriors were deployed or receiving treatment.

We’re proud of the organizers of this tremendous cause, and those who support it through volunteering or goods and services. And we’re proud that these brave men and women can come to our corner of the world for a week and enjoy all we have to offer.

Let’s all do our parts to make sure these are memories the families will embrace for years to come.
