Buckle up. “Shoulder season” is in full effect.
Long considered the best time of the year by many locals, this is the season when the weekdays are filled with open roads and small lines, while weekends return to the crowds with an onslaught of festivals and fun activities. This weekend offers up a little bit of everything.
The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Community Fun Night on Friday at the River Soccer Club, starting at 5 p.m. There will be games and barbecue, followed by a showing of the film E.T. on a giant inflateable screen at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, there is the popular local Arts & Crafts Festival at Good Earth Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View will be hosting the Desert Knights MC 2nd Annual Bike Week Bash, benefitting our local veterans, from noon to 6 p.m. Let’s not forget the Boro Bash, taking place in Millsboro on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Millsboro Little League Complex. The event drew more than 2,000 people last year, and organizers believe they will get at least that many this year.
Think we’re done? Think again. The fourth annual Bethany Beach First Responders Spinternational Triathlon-Duathlon-Aquabike event will take place Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
The shoulder season is upon us, and it is terrific.
