Plant-focused foods to star at Rehoboth Beach VegFest

Rehoboth Beach VegFest, an annual celebration of green, kind and sustainable living, is set for the weekend of June 10-12. The centerpiece of the weekend is the free outdoor festival on Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Epworth Church off Coastal Highway in Lewes. Rehoboth VegFest offers everything from raw green smoothies and juices to vegan soul food.

This year, the Rehoboth Beach VegFest festival features nearly two dozen food exhibitors with an array of familiar foods and more intriguing dishes made entirely from plants. Organizers said VegFest attracts many who are new to plant-based and just leaning into healthier eating. This year, food exhibitors both local and out-of-state will be selling their specially-crafted fare, ranging from pickles to pizza, vegetables, refreshing drinks and tantalizing sweets — all entirely plant-based.

Food exhibitors include a(MUSE!) Inspired Food & Drink, Cilantro, Crisp Pickles, Drop Squad Kitchen, Getta Pizza This, Grandpa (MAC), Evangelina’s Vegan Desserts, JuiceFresh Juice & Detox, Juice Plus, Kevin Tuckey Farms, Maui Wowi Hawaiian, My Nature, Naturally Sweet Desserts, Old World Breads, Peaceful Provisions, Rita’s Italian Ice, Tastyfully Simple, Tiffany’s Oven, Twist Juices, and Zoe’s Vegan Delight.

Another feature at Rehoboth Beach VegFest is the cooking demonstrations, and this year’s schedule includes three. Attendees can hear and watch Wilmington-based Chef Abundance Child, known for healthy, fresh fare and traditional “comfort” food, all made from plants.

Later, Kate St. John of the Humane League will demonstrate her culinary skills in making great-tasting plant-based meals at home that everyone can enjoy. The third presenter, Linda Casey, will be giving a raw cooking demo and speaking about food allergies and plant-based solutions.

In addition, the Rehoboth Beach VegFest festival has speakers, dozens of exhibitors, non-profits, a yoga village, food sampling, live music and kids activities. The festival is free to attend, with free parking. Attendees can also ride Jolly Trolley to and from the event at no charge.

Following the Saturday festival, the Rehoboth Beach Vegan Celebrity Brunch will be held on Sunday, June 12, at award-winning restaurant a(MUSE!). The brunch is hosted by local chef Hari Cameron, a three-time James Beard nominee, who has prepared a special menu of dishes created solely from plants.
