Notre Dame alum Ingelsby takes over UD hoops

After more than two months without a head coach, the search has ended for the University of Delaware men’s basketball program. In a press conference on Wednesday, May 25, the Blue Hens announced that Martin Ingelsby would take the reins for the 2016-2017 season.

The 37-year old spent his collegiate career playing point guard for the Fighting Irish before spending 13 seasons on the coaching staff.

Last season, the Blue Hens went 7-23 overall.

Registration open for Fourth of Pickleball

You don’t have to be a pro to get in on the pickleball action on Thursday, July 9.

“The Ocean View Crew” will host its first annual Fourth of Pickleball, a tournament intended for newcomers and novices to the sport so they can experience some competitive action.

Proceeds from the single-elimination, first-come, first-served event will go toward funding the Ocean View Crew. Registration closes on June 27 and is limited to 132 teams.

Get Well Gabby Skim-a-thon set for June 18

Back for its second year is the Get Well Gabby Skim-a-Thon for Childhood Cancer.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 18, at Delaware Seashore State Park, Tower Road beach, beginning at 10 a.m. and going until 3 p.m.

Participants can learn how to skim from local pros (and brothers) Dave and Tom Bracht from RELYance Skim Camp, while raising money for childhood cancer research.

Also featured will be awards, prizes, and lunch and games at noon.
