Beach Blast crowns pickleball champs

The First State Pickleball Club’s second annual Beach Blast wrapped up on Sunday, June 12, with 88 players from Delaware and surrounding states competing in 16 categories.

For the second straight year, the tournament was held on the courts of the First State Pickleball Club, behind John M. Clayton Elementary School near Dagsboro — currently the only dedicated pickleball courts in the entire state of Delaware.

Despite the heavy winds, the FSPC saw several champions on the day. Lynn Coburn and Robin Sherman took gold in the top Women’s Doubles, and Darryl Noble and Scott Austin took gold in the top Men’s Doubles category.

Pearl Morris took gold in the top Women’s Singles and Don Tomb in the Men’s Singles.
