Softball fans from around the area can rejoice in the action that will be taking place at the Pyle Center starting this Sunday.
Some of the best young players in the world — yes, the world — will be on hand to compete in both the Senior and Big League Softball World Series. There will be chatter from enthusiastic players, slick glovework on the field and at least a handful of majestic homeruns flying over fences.
And that doesn’t even include the masterful pitching performances that stand out every year.
For those who have not attended this event in the past, do. The atmosphere is charged, as each team is battling hard to earn the title of world champion and fans from every corner of the globe ratchet up the enthusiasm to fantastic levels. It is a joy to watch parents and their children from this community wander from one field to the next, and watching these young athletes take time to talk to starstruck younger fans between games is sure to bring a smile to your face.
This is the ultimate in both family and sports entertainment. Volunteers from around the area contribute their time and energy to make it an event to remember, and local people get a chance to watch world-class talent.
Parking and admission is free to this remarkable event, and it is right in our back yard. For a full schedule of games, turn to page A63 of this week’s paper.
