Flounder Pounder Open set for Aug. 19-21 in Long Neck
More than $100,000 in prize money will be available when the Ultimate Flounder Pounder Open gets under way in Long Neck on Aug. 19-21.
The tournament, set up by Paradise Marina and Short’s Marine, will aim to become the largest summer flounder fishing tournament on Delmarva.
“We have so many small anglers in the area that we thought it was time to give them the opportunity to win big in our local waters,” said Donald Short of Short’s Marine.
Prizes include a 22.5-foot Scout center-console boat with 200hp Yamaha engine from Short’s Marine (valued at more than $80,000) for first place, as well as cash prizes nearing $20,000.
Participation in the tournament is limited to 250 boats, so registering early is recommended. Registration began on Monday, Aug. 1, and will span through Sunday, Aug. 14, at Paradise Marina in Long Neck.
Registration costs $250 per boat, including the captain, with $50 of each registration being donated to the Beebe’s Tunnel Cancer Center. Paradise Marina is located at 27344 Bay Road in Long Neck.
