Moore goes for 22 yards in loss to Wesley

The Salisbury University football team lost their second game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 5, falling to Wesley College 44-27.

Indian River High School graduate and Salisbury senior Aaron Moore rushed for 22 yards on two carries in the matchup, also returning one kick for 19 yards.

The loss dropped the Sea Gulls to 7-2 overall on the season and 6-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with one game left to go.

Up next, they’ll hit the road to take on Frostburg State (8-1, 7-1) for the 18th Annual Regents Cup on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m.

Jarmon gets catch, carries in UD football win over Albany

The University of Delaware football team pulled off their second straight win on Saturday, Nov. 5, defeating Albany 33-17 on the road.

Indian River High School graduate and former Gatorade State Player of the Year Jamie Jarmon continues to find his way into the lineup for the Blue Hens, taking two carries for 11 yards in the game and hauling in one pass for eight yards.

Jarmon also returned a punt in the matchup for a gain of two yards.

The Blue Hens are now 2-1 since interim head coach Dennis Dottin-Carter took over for former head coach Dave Brock last month, and improved the team to 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, they head to Richmond to take on the Spiders (7-2, 4-2) at 3:30 p.m.

Gabby Gobble 5K registration open

Set to return for the third straight year this Thanksgiving is the Gabby Gobble 5K in Lewes.

The annual charity run to benefit the Get Well Gabby Foundation will aim to raise funds for childhood cancer research in the memory of Gabby Vogel, who passed away after a battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Golima (DIPG) in 2011.

The race will begin at Irish Eyes in Lewes at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, with post-race refreshments provided by Irish Eyes.

Pre-registration is set at $25, with race-day registration set at $30.

Sea Colony Turkey Trot 5K set for Nov. 27

The Sea Colony Turkey Trot 5K will return for the 14th straight year, set for Sunday, Nov. 27, at 9 a.m.

The Seashore Striders event will benefit Special Olympics Delaware, and kick off at the Freeman Fitness Center at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach.

Early registration costs $25 and is available online at www.seashorestriders.com. Race day registration is set at $30.

Refreshments will be served at the Freeman Fitness Center after the race, where age group awards will be presented.
