Poll worker grateful for food donations
On behalf of my 12 co-workers and myself who worked at the polls, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Hocker’s G&E and DiFebo’s restaurant for the delicious food they provide for our lunch and dinner.
We, the poll workers, are truly grateful for the donation. We work a very long day, from 5:45 a.m. to 8:25 p.m., and it was very gratifying for all of us. Your generosity reflects a true community spirit.
Reader bemoans growth of area
What has happened to our habitat for wildlife in Sussex County?
The newest destruction is on Club House Road. They just had to build here. I get so disgusted (and so do many others) with the many acres that are gobbled up by greedy contractors. No, you can’t blame the farmers. Yes, he sells his land — land which he is not making money on. He needs the money to retire.
Examples: They have ruined the land on Barnes Road, on Bridges Road, and now Club House Road. Years ago, they ruined Central Avenue, and they are still building. It is bad the way they have built up to the Assawoman wildlife area, but they just don’t care.
It is time the State of Delaware or Sussex County steps in and saves this wildlife habitat that is being ruined. You wonder why so many deer are being hit on the roads. It’s because nobody cares where greedy contractors are building. We need to save more habitat for wildlife.
Remember to vote for anybody who cares. Shouldn’t be too hard, for there isn’t anybody.
Reader upset with ‘Hamilton’ cast
Editor’s note: The following letter was addressed to the cast of the Broadway musical “Hamilton” and was sent to the Coastal Point for publication.
You’ve disgraced the namesake of your show by your unprofessional treatment of Vice President-elect Pence. Actors are supposed to entertain and not use the stage of a Broadway theater to deliver a political lecture in a pathetic attempt to make an individual, who should have been an honored guest, feel unwelcome. You truly are a cast of deplorables.
