Indian River High School to host ‘Battle at the Beach’ wrestling tournament

Wrestlers from across Delaware will hit the mats at Indian River High School this weekend, when the Indians host their annual “Battle at the Beach” tournament.

The event is open to the public, and set to take place on Thursday, Dec. 29, and Friday, Dec. 30.

Surfin’ Snowman 5-Miler ‘Twilight Run’ set for Friday

The Surfin’ Snowman 5-Miler and Santa’s Helper 2-Miler Family Run/Walk Challenge will host its second annual “Twilight Run” this Friday, Dec. 30, in downtown Bethany Beach.

The event is set to get under way on Friday, Dec. 30, at 4 p.m. at Garfield Parkway and Atlantic Avenue.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Justin’s Beach House, the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company and Contractors for a Cause.

A post-race party will follow at 99 Sea Level, with age-group awards, live music from D.J. Padraig, hot chocolate and more.

St. Patrick’s Day soccer tourney registration open Jan. 2

Registration for the 29th annual Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department St. Patrick’s Day soccer tournament is set to officially open on Monday, Jan. 2.

The OCRP is expecting an estimated 170 teams with players from the U10-U18 levels and Co-Rec Adult and Unlimited Divisions to show up and go toe to toe at their indoor facilities at the Northside Park Recreation Complex on 125th St. in Ocean City, Md.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, Feb. 24, for both the U18 Girls and Boys Division and the Adult Co-Rec Division, and span weekends through Sunday, March 19.

Registration costs $400 per team and will remain open through Friday, Jan. 27.

Shorebirds’ Hot Stove Banquet set for Jan. 26

The Delmarva Shorebirds will show some fan appreciation when they host their 16th annual Hot Stove Banquet at the Wicomico Youth and Civic in Salisbury, Md. on Thursday, Jan. 26.

The yearly event for the Baltimore Orioles Class A affiliate is open to the public, and will feature a buffet dinner, speakers from the Baltimore Orioles organization, and a silent auction to benefit the Shorebirds Fly Together Together Fund and United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

Individual tickets for the event cost $35 dollars, with tickets for a table of eight set at $260.

The banquet will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
