Doris M. Truitt, 86, of Gumboro, Del., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at home. She was born in Berlin, Md., daughter of the late Harley J. Baker and Minnie (Joseph) Baker.
She had been a seamstress with the former Berlin Shirt Factory and had also worked as a clerk at Mr. Donut in Millsboro, Del. Truitt was an avid bowler and had been in several leagues in Millsboro. She was a past member of Taylorville United Methodist Church.
Truitt was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Truitt Sr., in 1993; two sons, Robert W. Truitt Jr. and Harley J. Truitt; and a sister, Hilda Bunting. She is survived by a daughter, Millie E. Bunting of Gumboro; two sons, Danny D. Truitt and his wife, Elly, of Bishopville, Md., and Michael R. Truitt and his wife, Lorraine, of Berlin; a half-sister, Clara Collins of Fruitland, Md.; six grandchildren, Tracy Steele, Tina Bunting, Stacy Thomas, Brooks Truitt, Jennifer Booth and Amy Griffith; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was scheduled for Jan. 10, 2016, at Carey’s Cemetery in Millsboro, Del., with fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SonRise Church; 10026 Main St.; Berlin, MD 21811. Condolences may be sent online at www.bishophastingsfh.com.
