Clayton Ringler Sr., 87, of Hayesville, N.C., passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at his residence. He was the son of the late Raymond Easter and Enid Odessa Lynch Ringler, and a native of Sussex County, Del., but lived in the Florida Keys before moving to Clay County, N.C., in 2006.
Ringler was a senior vice-president with Baltimore Trust Company. He was a life member and first president of the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce in Fenwick Island, Del., and had received the Lighthouse Award for 40 years of service.
Ringler was also a life member of the Selbyville (Del.) Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as secretary/treasurer for 30 years and president for two years. He was also a member of the Elks Club; president of the Southern Chapter of the American Institute of Banking; and president of the Delaware Banking Association.
Ringler was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville and attended the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Ringler was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude “Trudy” Ringler. Surviving him are his wife, Keila Matthews Ringler; a daughter, Trenicke Abbott, and her husband, Robert, of Laurel, Del.; two sons, Clayton Ringler Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Onancock, Va., and Ross Raymond Ringler and his wife, Dr. Margie Ringler, of Greenville, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Marsha Vera of Gray, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was to be held at a later date in Delaware. Arrangements were by Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice; 125 Medical Park Lane, Ste. H; Murphy, NC 28906.
