David Kline, 58, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and friends he loved, on Feb. 20, 2017, in Ocean View, Del. He was born Sept. 4, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Rita and Edgar Kline.
Kline graduated from Youngstown State University in 1982, with a degree in criminal justice. After moving to Delaware, he began working for the Dewey Beach Police Department and later became a Delaware State Police trooper, retiring after 22 years of service.
His children remember him as a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Kline was an enthusiastic man who loved the beach, gardening, watching the sunset, fishing, his dogs and spending time with his family.
Kline is survived by his mother, Rita Kline of Youngstown; children, Shanna and Nicole Kline; siblings, Diane, Robert and Daniel Kline; and former wife, Jayne Kline.
