Gary Arthur McCormick, 72, of Ocean View, Del., passed away, Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was born Oct. 12, 1944, in Rochester, N.Y., to the late Arthur F. McCormick and Alberta Berry McCormick.
McCormick served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and manager of Accurate Office Machine Company, selling, repairing computers and office equipment for 42 years in the Newport, Del., area. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the VFW near Bethany Beach, Del., and enjoyed bowling, buying, selling and repairing cars, motorcycles and boats.
In addition to his parents, McCormick was preceded in death by sister, Christine Bobeck, and a great-grandchild, Carly Weiss. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice Marie Short McCormick of Ocean View; daughter, Michelle Brakefield and husband, William, of Dover, Del.; brothers, Bill Laties and his spouse, Loli, of Perth Amboy, N.J., and Timothy McCormick and his spouse, Lorrie, of Bear, Del.; a sister, Patricia Pelenski, and her husband, Walter, of Lanoka Harbor, N.J.; grandchildren Dalton Weiss and his wife, Maria, Tori Brakefield, Logan Weiss and Tanner Brakefield; a great-grandchild, Bradley Weiss; and a sister-in-law, Sara Short of Dover.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, South Dover Branch Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Route 10), Dover, Del.
